Ordering your prescriptions
You can request a prescription either
- by post (please enclose an s.a.e. if you would like it returned to you) or in person. When requesting please tick the required medication on the prescription counterfoil. (If you would like a nominated chemist to collect your prescription please indicate this on your request.
- using patient online
- completing a request slip in the surgery
We regret that we are unable to accept telephone requests for repeat prescriptions. This is for security and safety purposes.
Please allow three full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.
We ask that requests for medication to be made approximately a week before you run out, your assistance with this will be much appreciated. Requests made too early may not be processed, however if the early request is due to holiday for example please be sure to notify Reception at the time of making the request so it can be actioned.
Please check all items carefully to ensure they are correct, and if, for any reason, you do not complete a course of medication or it becomes out of date, please return it to your pharmacy for safe disposal.

How does Patient Online access work?
Your practice uses a clinical information system to manage patient records. Each time you have a consultation with a clinician or test results are sent back from the lab, the details are recorded to build up your medical history and help with your future care.
The practice also uses the system to book appointments, send letters and update your contact details.
Patient Online access uses a website that displays information from the practice's system and allows you to:
1.View and book available appointments.
2.View your medication and request further prescriptions.
3.Send messages to your practice.
4.View your medical record.
Each practice decides how much information is allowed to be seen through Patient Online access and how many appointments can be booked online, rather than over the telephone.

How can you verify my ID without needing to come into the surgery?
The process for vouching to provide patients with online access can be done by phone, without the patient having to present themselves to the practice. The patient will be contacted by the practice and asked to confirm their d.o.b, address and some personal information from their record.
Alternatively you can use the NHS App – you can do all the ID checks yourself using your phone.
The level of access you will be given will be the basic level – meds, allergies, detailed coded entries and appointments.
Once your registration and ID verification is completed we will email or post you a linkage key which you can then use to register with your chosen online provider.
As part of good clinical practice patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, practice pharmacist, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. At these times the process may take a little longer. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
New restrictions on prescribing Over-the-Counter medicines
We have been given new guidelines by the Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (OCCG) regarding the prescribing of medicines which patients can buy over the counter (OTC) at, for example, the local pharmacy or supermarket.
GP's (and in some cases Nurses) may consider asking you to buy OTC medicines rather than providing you with a prescription.
